Japan Sets New Temperature Record for Second Time in a Week
Japan set a new temperature record for the second time in a week amid a scorching heat wave affecting most of the country.
Temperatures in Isesaki City in Gunma prefecture, which is northwest of Tokyo, rose to 41.8C (107F) on Tuesday, according to the Japan Meteorological Agency. That exceeded a high of 41.2C on July 30 in Hyogo prefecture in western Japan, which topped a previous record first recorded in 2018.
